"Worth It" is a song recorded by American girl group Fifth Harmony featuring American rapper Kid Ink. The song impacted American rhythmic crossover radio on March 2, 2015 as the third single from the group's debut studio album, ''Reflection''. "Worth It" is a pop and R&B song that incorporates strong elements of Balkan music in its production, the trademark of its producer Ori Kaplan.〔
"Worth It" has become Fifth Harmony's highest charting single in the United States on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at number 12. The song also marked the first top 20 single by a girl group in the US since "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" by The Pussycat Dolls in 2009. It is the group's first international successful single, peaking within the top ten of the charts in Australia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Portugal and the United Kingdom, as well as the top twenty of the charts in countries such as Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Slovakia, and South Korea. It has been certified 2x Platinum in the United States, Platinum in Australia, Canada and Italy, Gold in Denmark, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand and Spain, and Silver in the UK.
As of August 2015, "Worth It" became one of only seven songs to be certified multi-platinum in 2015 in the United States.
==Background==
"Worth It" was produced and co-written by Stargate (Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen) and Ori Kaplan, with additional writing from Priscilla Renea; it was presented to the group by Stargate. It was originally to be recorded by rapper Kid Ink, who ended up collaborating on the song, but the lyrics and melody were changed to fit a female perspective. Kid Ink noted during an interview with Forbes that while he was "writing on (Harmony's ) album, (was able to collaborate ) with producers Stargate and Cashmere Cat" and this led to the development of the song. One of Kid Ink's verses from "Wit It" (the original version of the song) appears on Fifth Harmony's version.
"Worth It" is written from the perspective of a woman telling a man that she's "Worth It", applying sexual connotation. However, the single could also be a taken as a feminist anthem, as it can inspire "young girls to truly believe they're 'Worth It' and can own Wall Street or any other place on which they set their sights".〔(【引用サイトリンク】title= Fifth Harmony Step Up as New-Age Feminist Icons in "Worth It" Video )〕 This latter view of the song is highlighted in its music video.
"Worth It" was released on January 15, 2015 but officially impacted radio as a single on March 2, 2015. Following the global success of "Worth It", a Spanish version titled "" (Spanish for "Give Me This Night") was released to iTunes on July 10, 2015. The track features Kid Ink's English rap verse, while the girls of Fifth Harmony sing in Spanish.
